What we know we don't know. Secrets in the GW Bush Administration.
by kathy@truthisbetter.org Last updated 2004-09-19

Information is being withheld from Congress and the American people by the GW Bush administration.

  • Secrecy in the GW Bush Administration.
  • An FBI translator has revealed that many FBI documents revealed as early as February 2001, that persons inside the US were plotting suicide bombing missions of major US cities, yet no actions were taken. The Ashcroft Justice department has retroactively classified as secret even her public testimony to prevent it from being known.
  • FAA destroyed 911 tapes.
  • Bush administration orders US Park officials not to talk.
  • FAA destroyed 911 tapes.
  • Why don't we have answers to these 9/11 questions?
  • 28 pages have been withheld out from a 9-11 Commission report.
  • President Bush announced when he signed the Iraq appropriations bill that the Inspector General in Iraq, "shall refrain from initiating, carrying out or completing an audit or investigation or from issuing a subpoena which requires access to sensitive operation plans". Even Republican Chairman of the House Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, Representative Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) said, "The suggestion that the inspector general would not have access to classified documents, that's preposterous. He's got to have access to those documents in order to do his job." The role of the Inspector General in Iraq is to oversee the reconstruction process, not military operations.
  • How many Americans have been wounded in Iraq? This information is being with-held from Americans.
  • The GW Bush administration confiscated all Air Traffic Control tapes from 9/11 and 9/12/01 and has refused to release them or other documents to the 9/11 commission.
  • 28+ pages of the Report of the Congressional Joint Inquiry into 9/11 are being with-held as classified, including information on Saudi contributions to the 9/11 terrorists. Congressional Intelligence Cmte members say information embarrassing to the GW Bush administration is being withheld for political reasons. This report's release was delayed until after the Iraq war.
  • The Pentagon has never passed an audit, so Congress waives its annual financial audit. Much of the money going to Defense is unaccounted-for according to Chuck Spinney.
  • A former federal prosecutor, John Loftus has an insider’s knowledge of high level intelligence operations, including the supression of the report of 9/11 by the Bush administration, Enron's connection to 9/11, information that the U.S. government knew it was funneling money to terrorists through Saudi Arabia. Read about his current projects, the coverup of the Saudi connection, and more.
  • What do we know that we don't know?
    • An important discussion of global climate change was deleted from the EPA's report on the environment.
    • The EPA withheld key portions of its analysis of a Senate Air Pollution bill.
    • The cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (up to $4 billion per month) are being hidden in supplemental appropriations rather than being included as budget items
    • Military records of GW Bush's military service in the Air National Guard are missing.
    • Minutes of Cheney's meetings with Enron and others to develop energy policies are being withheld from Congress and the public. Enron's plans to unnecessarily close plants for maintenance to cause an energy crisis in California that would be used to raise prices and profits were hatched during this same time frame.
    • 9/11 investigation information is being withheld from Congress and the public.
    • Military records of HW Bush's WWII incident when he ditched his plane killing plane crew are mysteriously undated (replacements for the originals?) and original eye witness reports are missing.
    • Previous Reagan-Bush administration documents are being kept secret.
  • Economic information is being muzzled.
    • The Mass Layoff Statistics program was cancelled until the Washington Post reported it.
    • A study predicting huge budget deficits was deep-sixed from the 2004 budget summary published in Feb 2003, as reported by the Financial Times.
    • The annual Adverse Effect Wage Rate report that establishes minimum wages for agricultural guest workers has been delayed from February until as late as August each year of GW's administration. This allows large agricultural firms to pay workers less.
    • The Dept of Labor under GW removed a report showing the real value of the minimum wage over time.
    • A study predicting mediocre job growth from GW's economic "stimulus" plan disappeared from the Council of Economic Advisor's web site.
    • The GW administration plays with the length of economic forcasts to distort the findings. For example, a cumulative seventy-five-year estimate was used to exagerate shortfalls in Social Security and Medicare in the same report that used five year (rather than the normal 10 year) projections, claiming ten year projections were unreliable.
    • Treasury Secretary Paul O-Neill and economic advisor Larry Lindsey left the GW administration after expressing skepticism about the White House economic figures and predicting that the Iraq war would cost upwards of $200 billion respectively.
