Voting Machines scare anybody with a brain.

Man. They're even questioning our elections overseas. Unfortunately here, nobody seems to be raising any eyebrows. Well, nobody but those of us who understand it but have no power to stop it.

Excerpt: A quiet revolution is taking place in US politics. By the time it's over, the integrity of elections will be in the unchallenged, unscrutinised control of a few large - and pro-Republican - corporations.

And these machines do need to be challenged. They're just too hinky to trust. Georgia's 2002 elections are in contention. (As they should've been from the beginning anyway. Max Cleland? War hero? Voted out for not being patriotic? Jeesh.)

Excerpt: If the charges are true, Diebold could be in violation of federal and state election-certification rules. The charges also raise questions about the integrity of the Georgia election results and any other election that uses patched Diebold systems that have not been re-certified.

Hell, the machines might even be unconstitutional.

Excerpt: In Mosley the Court stated that it is &";as equally unquestionable that the right to have one's vote counted is as open to protection . . . as the right to put a ballot in a box.&"; 238 U.S., [377 U.S. 533, 555] at 386. The right to vote can neither be denied outright, Guinn v. United States, 238 U.S. 347 , Lane v. Wilson, 307 U.S. 268 , nor destroyed by alteration of ballots, see United States v. Classic, 313 U.S. 299, 315 , nor diluted by ballot-box stuffing, Ex parte Siebold, 100 U.S. 371 , United States v. Saylor, 322 U.S. 385 . As the Court stated in Classic, &";Obviously included within the right to choose, secured by the Constitution, is the right of qualified voters within a state to cast their ballots and have them counted . . . .&"; 313 U.S., at 315. &";

If they let you test them, but don't really let you test them, you know there's something very bad about them.

Excerpt: But Jeremiah Akin, a 28-year-old computer programmer who recently observed one of these tests in Riverside County, Calif., says that what he saw did nothing to mitigate his concerns about electronic voting -- indeed, the whole thing made him more worried than ever.

And if they continually try to shut down your website because you have damning information about them, then they're DEFINATELY hiding something.

Excerpt: Diebold sent out dozens of notices to ISPs hosting IndyMedia and other websites linking to or publishing copies of Diebold internal memos. The only ISP to resist so far, says the EFF, is the non-profit Online Policy Group (OPG) ISP.
