Development of energy efficient systems could save modern civilization from collapse when fossil fuels run out. Yet, the Bush-Cheney administration has proposed an energy plan to rapidly drill, fight over, and use oil resources while cutting funding for development of alternative energy sources and increasing government funding of fossil fuel industries. One B2 bombing mission alone uses the same amount of fuel that an SUV could use to drive for over 200 to perhaps 500 years at 12,000 miles per year! This ill-considered energy proposal, created during Cheney's secret energy meetings, will make it financially difficult to develop alternative energy sources. A good economy, peace and jobs depend on energy independence and conservation of the environment that provides our natural resources. Utah Power Blue Sky program and Geothermal program are bright spots amoung electrical utilities. Passive solar heating and cooling and solar electricity also have potential.
